February Mini Challenge: This or That?
Every year I participate in The 52 Book Club's reading challenge, and that includes their Mini Challenges.February's Mini Challenge was inspired by three different book titles, giving readers a bookish "this or that" to choose from... and because I'm extra, I chose both this and that.
You can click on any of the book titles to see my reviews.![]()
The first this or that was inspired by The Scarlet Letter, a book I didn't love.
- I chose A Study in Scarlet by Arthur Conan Doyle because of the title (it includes Scarlet, in case that wasn't immediately obvious), and I also didn't love this one.
- Next, was Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen, for Letter, as it relies heavily on letters as a plot device.
The next this or that was inspired by Crime and Punishment, a book I haven't read. Clearly I need to.
- Up first for Crime is The Best Way to Bury Your Husband by Alexia Casale. Multiple crimes were committed. Murder... murder... more murder...
- And next (for Punishment) was Hot for Slayer by Ali Hazelwood. The core premise of this novella is a sustained system of punishment of vampires. They are hunted and executed.
The last this or that was inspired by Fourth Wing. Haven't we all read this one?
- For Fourth, I went a little unconventional and used The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick. It's about FOUR women who form a book club.
- And last, for Wing I used Tourist Season by Brynne Weaver because there is a CROW (with wings!) that is vital to the plot, plus there are wings on the cover.
And that's a wrap for February!
