The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Bostwick
My rating: 4 of 5 starsI really enjoyed this... and by "enjoyed," I mean I felt so much absolute RAGE that I now have a headache.
This book lit a fire in me. Listening to these women navigate their lives, friendships, and the limitations placed on them was equal parts empowering and infuriating. I liked all the female MCs and their arcs. Great. Fantastic even.
The men, however, can collectively jump right off a cliff. Yes, I know they weren't all terrible, and there was redemption in some cases, but honestly?... No, thank you. I'm not interested.
All that said, that is what made the book work. I'm fired up. I'm mad, furious even. So yes, four stars, one stress headache, and a deep appreciation for stories that let women be complicated.
