Fly Me to the Moon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
It felt right to start this book now, after the completion of the Artemis II mission. A mission that made history with Christina Koch becoming the first woman to fly around the Moon. What better way to ride that high than to savor a novel about a quietly ambitious woman?
We don't just get a glass-ceiling cracking manifesto, we also get a love story. And not only a love story, but a queer one. And not only that, but a story about family bonds. Ones that fail, and ones that rise.
There is something ethereal about Taylor Jenkins Reid's writing. I felt as if I was floating along on a cloud of beautiful words, gently navigating this politically-charged backdrop, in all its cosmic glory, before she ripped it all out from under me and delivered an ending that was rude, but in the most delicious way.
