Alright, this one was an interesting ride! I don’t usually reach for short story collections, and I definitely wouldn’t have picked this up on my own if not for our November book club pick. But wow! This book was surprisingly haunting.

Not every story landed for me; some I breezed through, others got under my skin in a gross, creepy way, but overall, it was strong. I really appreciated the Indigenous focus; it added depth, perspective, and a lot of weight. Some of it was heartbreaking, and it stuck with me longer than I expected.

In the end, it’s a collection I’d recommend for anyone looking for dark, thoughtful stories with real bite. It’s not perfect, but it’s memorable, unsettling, and worth the read.
